Today’s Question: How do I build my Social Circle?

Social Circles can help us a lot in life. You never know, when someone is going to come in handy. This can be a hard skill to learn but definitely pays off in the long run. You want your social circle to be filled with people from all walks of life.

  • Outside: It’s a common misconception that you can only build a social circle offline. Honestly in this era, you can do it sitting at home. Try organizing online seminars or meet-ups to understand people and listen to their stories.

  • Learn: Always go with the intention of learning and be very intentional with the people you meet. Try to form connections with people who are interested in similar fields as you. The key is to be a good listener by showing interest in others and being reliable and supportive.

  •  Nurture existing connections: While you try to expand your social circle, don't forget about friends you've known for a while. Try to stay in touch because those are the people that you can open up to and trust.

  • Be open-minded: When you want to learn, you can’t always hang out with people exactly like you. The goal is to find people with a similar mindset but different experience levels. Diversity in a social group makes it more interesting.

  • You shouldn’t change: The most fulfilling friendships develop when you can be authentic around those people. Don't try to force yourself to be someone you're not. Don’t forget your sense of self. If you want to understand this concept more deeply, I recommend you to watch Inside Out 2, it’s a great movie that covers this concept.

  •  Consistency: Social circles aren’t built in a day but are built through regular interaction. When you meet someone regularly, your bond with them becomes stronger.

Hope these tips help you out. Remember that we are social creatures and should use that to our advantage. Good luck :)
