Today’s Question: How do I rekindle my relationship?
Trying to rekindle a relationship may not always end fruitfully but if you and your partner are ready to genuinely make efforts in saving your relationship, here are my suggestions to help you out.
The first thing you need to focus on is making quality time for each other a priority. Put away your phones and try talking to each other. You can talk about anything under the sun but getting the conversation started is the most important.
You can try new activities together that get you out of your normal routine. Taking a class, going on day trips, or picking up a new hobby together can create shared experiences and new memories for you both to cherish.
Think about the beautiful memories from earlier in your relationship. Looking at old photos or mementos, visiting meaningful places, or recreating date nights from when you were first together can help reignite that spark between you guys.
You need to work on rebuilding emotional and physical intimacy. It would help if you had more open conversations about your wants and needs with each other. Engaging in physical affection like hugs, cuddling, and massage is also something that can not be ignored.
Lastly, consider going to couples counseling if you're having major disconnects, or fight too often. A counselor can listen to both sides of the story without being judgemental. This also gives you an opportunity to understand, your partner’s perspective better.
Love is something you need to keep working on. Contrary to what movies have made us believe, love can be hard and does take effort from both sides to be compatible with each other.
