Here is what Michael Jackson said

I am Michael Jackson

“In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.”

Today’s Question: How do I deal with jealousy?

We all have faced jealousy at some point in our lives. Sometimes it can get out of hand. Here is what to do, when you think your jealousy is getting out of control.

  • Start by trying to get to the root problem. You need to ask yourself, What are you afraid of? Is it the fear of abandonment? or some other insecurity perhaps?

  • You can start by working on your self-esteem. Often times low self-esteem can lead to feelings of irrational jealousy. Working on this aspect can solve half your problem.

  • Communication really helps in such situations. Just letting your partner or friend know how you feel is healthy. It takes away most of the speculation and gives you a clearer picture. I know the conversation can be hard but it is also an important one.

  • The worst thing you can do while feeling jealous, is project a controlling behavior towards your partner. An absolute red flag and should be avoided at all costs.

  • You can try distracting yourself if nothing works. Often times it is our mind that needs to feel calmer in order for the jealousy to reduce and eventually go away.

  • Lastly, If there are underlying trust issues, work on rebuilding trust through communication and accountability. Jealousy is only there when there is no trust.

The key is developing more self-confidence and perspective to keep jealous feelings from sabotaging your relationships or well-being. Good luck and remember that you are on the right path.
