Today’s Question: How do I become mature?
For most of my life, I have dealt with this exact problem. People called me immature and I did not understand why this was. But after years of introspection and practice, I have come to a level of emotional maturity that is socially acceptable. Today I will try to help you out with this problem.
Being mature is a journey and it will take time. The first step is to take responsibility for your actions. Mature people own up to their mistakes instead of making excuses or blaming others.
When I was on this journey, I struggled with practicing self-control. Being mature means that you have the ability to regulate your emotions and behaviors, even in difficult situations. This takes time and effort.
Another important thing is to be reliable and follow through on your commitments. That means no fake promises or white lies.
Considering other perspectives can also help you become more mature. We like to look at the world through our lenses but when we look at it through the other person’s eyes, we see something different.
Learning from experiences is also of great help. You can’t know all the answers but you can find out through experience. Reflecting on your behavior and introspecting can really help.
Another cheat code is to try reading more fictional books. They will teach you more about human emotion and reaction. It really helps put things into perspective and understand people more.
And lastly, be open-minded. Acceptance of new ideas is key on the road to maturity. You don’t have to agree with all of the ideas but you need to still hear them out with respect and acknowledge them, no matter how ludicrous they might sound to you.
I know it can hurt when people call you immature. But the road to maturity comes with time and you have already taken the first step. Good luck to you.
