The Advice Column

Today’s Question: How do I make money as a College Kid?

Well, that is a great question. There is no one-size-fits-all formula to this. The easiest way to make money is to find something you are genuinely interested in and try to monetize it.

  • Don’t try running after trends like Drop shipping or SaaS, it is better to make money from the skills you already possess. This could be by offering free solutions to potential customers at first and then charging them for it later on.

  • You can try conducting lessons in the skills you are good at, or even just connecting with the people in your industry and trying to make them your mentor.

  • Realistically, you need to first learn before you earn and it is always better to make money in a niche you actually like working in.

  • At this age even though some people have achieved great financial success doesn’t mean that it is going to work for everybody. You may know nothing about tech or digital marketing but that is totally ok as long as you know about the skill you are good at.

  • Focus on your strengths rather than your weaknesses.

  • Once you start earning enough, try to pool that money in an Index fund and put your money to work.
