Today’s Question: How do I regain my partner’s trust?

Well, this is a tough question to answer since the matter is quite sensitive but I will try my best to help you out.

  • So the first thing you must remember is that trust is a very delicate emotion and once broken, it can only heal if you and your partner decide to work on it together. You can not rush this process, otherwise things will get worse. I want you to have a chat with your partner and tell them, that you are ready to work on it and reassure them.

  • The next step to follow is to practice telling the truth and being fully transparent with your partner. That means no white lies either. Trust has more to do with your actions than your words. You can tell them to trust you or you can show them that you are trustworthy. Start with the little things, like informing your partner, whenever you go out. Frequently calling and checking up on them throughout the day and taking the extra step to make them feel that you are a responsible and mature person.

  • Trust isn’t built in a day and your partner will question every small thing you do. This might cause tension between you two but it is important to understand that this is all part of the process. If you have broken somebody’s trust, it is hard enough for them to give you another chance. So be grateful and work on making them feel loved and cared for. This journey can take around 6 to 8 months but what matters is that you and your partner take the first step and acknowledge, that trust has been broken and needs to be regained.

Lastly, remember that you are a team and this relationship is important to both of you. So enjoy each other’s company and let time heal you.
