Today’s Question: Are keeping Pets worth it?

Today’s question is quite interesting. We all have dreamt of having a little furry companion by our side. But the answer isn’t that simple, let’s break it down.

Pros of having a Pet

  • The truth is that pets can provide love, affection, and a sense of purpose in this lonely world. This will directly improve your mental health and make you feel a little better on your gloomy days.

  • Studies have shown that having a pet can lower blood pressure, reduce stress and anxiety, and promote an active lifestyle. This is great for people who think their life has turned too turbulent. Pets do make you happier, overall

  • Caring for a pet teaches you valuable life lessons like responsibility, empathy, and nurturing. It can really reshape your personality and help you develop into a kind-hearted and helpful person.

Now let’s flip the coin

Cons of having a Pet

  • Pets can get expensive. It is like having another family member. You need to pay for their food, toys, veterinary care, shelter, and other petty expenses. These small expenses can soon add up. So if you are financially struggling, a pet will only add on to your problems.

  • You need to dedicate time to your pet. Pets will demand a lot of caring and this will require your time and attention. Feeding them, cleaning after them, and making sure that they are healthy, can take some effort from your side.

  • There is also the emotional trauma, you need to be prepared for; Pets usually last from 1-20 years, depending on the animal but you need to accept the fact that you are most likely going to see your pet die in this lifetime.

If you are ok with taking the effort to make sure your pet lives a long and happy life, then you should definitely go for it. We live in an era where creating meaningful bonds is harder than ever. A pet will never judge you for who you are and we all deserve unconditional love without judgement. If you have pets, make sure to send us stories about them. We read each and every comment, you send our way :)
